Tropico 6 wants you!… to join the private beta

If you’ve already pre-ordered Tropico 6, you can start building your own semi-democratic banana republic in the beta.

The Tropico series charts the ongoing story of El Presidente, as he expands his influence over a not-exactly democratic nation. Despite the upcoming changes to Tropico 6, the new launch will be largely the same. Well, except for one detail: pre-order customers can start playing right now.

As revealed in a tongue-in-cheek trailer, Tropico 6 has launched a new beta. If you pre-order the game from publisher Kalypso Media’s website, you can start playing (and stealing national landmarks) right away.

This latest Tropico game introduces many features which certainly need testing. For example, players now manage multiple islands instead of a single archipelago. The transportation system has been overhauled to allow connections between islands and other nations. You can even raid other countries for their priceless monuments, if you so choose.

Two pre-order options are currently available: Standard and El Prez Edition. The latter includes 2 tourist outfits, an in-game flamingo pond, a digital soundtrack, and a digital calendar. The beta is available with both pre-order variants.

Tropico 6 launches in January 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The beta is a PC exclusive.
