Soul Calibur VI documentary series takes a look at the history of the franchise

The Soul Calibur franchise has been around for a long time, over 20 years for that matter. And we’re very close to the release of the latest Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur VI. A franchise that has been around this long naturally has a lot of history, and to that end, Bandai Namco is releasing a new documentary series before the releases of the latest title to the series. The new documentary takes a look at the long history of the franchise, and also gives players more on what’s to come and what they can expect from the franchise in the future.

Soul Calibur

The first chapter of the docu series is already out, and you can watch it above. The chapter, Souls and Swords: The Rise of Soul Calibur is about 12 minutes long and looks the genesis of the series, with the original Soul Edge which came out back in 1995.

Fans of not only the series, but the genre as well, this a great watch and it gives an insight into the evolution of the fighting genre in general.

The first chapter gives us more about the history of the franchise, and we see clips from previous entries to the series. The first Soul Caliber game, which debuted in arcades in the 90s transitioned to the Sega Dreamcast in 1999.

The docu series also focuses on characters from the series, and the changes they’ve been through over the years.

Chapter two of the series should be somewhere around the horizon, so keep an eye out for that! Soul Calibur VI comes out October 19 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
