Borderlands 2 VR is coming to PlayStation VR this December

This December, 2K and Gearbox Software are planning to make Borderlands 2 as immersive as possible with Borderlands 2 VR, which launches on PlayStation VR.

Borderlands 2 VR

Since the game is going to be fully VR compatible, they’re bringing in a new control scheme as well. A lot of the game has apparently been reworked to make it VR friendly. There’s a new game mechanic to this effect as well called “BAMF Time”, or BadAss Mega Fun Time, because of course there is. This basically slows down time, allowing players to do cool stuff like dodge n shiz. Vehicle driving will also take place in first-person, while weapons will be controller by head movement while driving. Players will be able to choose between standard controller movement on the VR standard point-to-point teleportation movement, which we’re not really fans of to be honest.

Another thing about Borderlands 2 VR is that it will be a purely single-player experience. No co-op at all. To that end, they’ve modified abilities that would otherwise have had party-wide, or team support based affects. Like Maya’s “Res” ability for example. Instead of you know, resing allies, the ability has been replaced by “Empathy”, where phaselock will deplete half your health and deal damage based on health lost. It also gives you healing boons during BAMF time.

On the surface, Borderlands 2 VR does look like a close and personal version of Borderlands 2 and is as close to the action as you could possibly get. But we’ll find out how it is once it’s out this December 14.
