Apex Legends mods ban 16,000 cheaters since launch

Apex Legends moderators banned more than 16,000 cheaters since the game’s Feb. 5 launch, and promise more punishment for anyone not getting the message.

It may be a little tricky, for now, as the battle royale does not have a reporting feature directly in the game. A community manager said yesterday that developers “have heard your feedback about a report feature in the game,” and that it’s “a very good idea.”

For now, Apex Legends players have to report an offender’s ID through this support website, ideally with some sort of evidence (screenshot or video clip). But even without proof, Respawn will still take a Gamertag/ID and investigate a suspicious account.

The ban info came in an overall update posted to Reddit on Friday. The game’s second patch will come sometime this week, although Respawn shared no details about what it entails.

Still, more regular updates (through Reddit) are planned beginning Tuesday. Respawn is getting a soundstage and a set for live streaming, and will start putting on shows with developers around the time season one begins, which is March 1.
