Rumor: Limited Run Games Co-Founder Josh Fairhust Says That Spelunky 2 Is “Definitely Coming To Switch”

One franchise that isn’t on the Nintendo Switch as of yet is Spelunky. The first game has yet to be released on the console, and its sequel has not been officially confirmed either. However, that may soon change for Spelunky 2. Josh Fairhust from Limited Run Games said in a Discord channel that “I can 100% say that, at this specific point in time, Spelunky 1 is not coming to Switch. If it is coming to Switch, it is not something that has been communicated to me by the dev or porting company. Spelunky 2 is definitely coming to Switch, though granted, the last time I asked the dev about Spelunky 1 on Switch was a year ago. Maybe I should ask again, but I think he would have let us know about it”.

Limited Run Games has brought Spelunky to the Playstation 4 and Vita in physical form, so they do have second-hand knowledge and contact with the game’s dev, Derek Yu. Since this information doesn’t come directly from him, it is best to wait and see wha happens. That said, Yu has said on Twitter in the past that there have been “lots of requests for Spelunky on Switch! I have a Switch, it’s awesome. Definitely want to put something on it”. So, Spelunky’s developer is very well aware of the desire for Spelunky on the console.
