This N7 Day, know that all hope is not lost for the Mass Effect franchise

While we celebrated Diwali on November 7, November 7 also happened to be N7 day. Those of you who are Mass Effect fans will know the relevance of that term. Now while it may seem like the franchise is very much dead after the Mass Effect Andromeda debacle, it seems like BioWare might still not be done with it.

This N7 day, we got a video from BioWare, featuring a lot of memorable moments from the Mass Effect franchise. There were very few from Andromeda, noticeably. It also featured members of the team describing what N7 day means to them. We also see a lot of classic moments from the game, featuring all-time-greatest space bro Garrus Vakarian, Mordin, Thane, Legion, the Normandy, and the Citadel too.

What’s most intriguing about the whole thing is when Casey Hudson shows up at the end, taking a sip from an “I Should Go” mug, while casually “dreaming about what the next great Mass Effect game will be”. Sounds like the franchise is not quite dead yet, and if the video is anything to go by, they know that Andromeda was a bump along the way. Hopefully, all is not lost for this epic franchise.

Meanwhile, for those of you still playing the original trilogy, specifically Mass Effect 3, a bunch of really good mods released on N7 day which you can pick up to improve your ME3 experience. The first is the Priority Earth Overhaul Mod, which changes things in the game’s final mission, which the majority were not very happy with. There is still more content expected to come for this mod.

The next is the Expanded Galaxy Mod, which is on a much larger scales and adds a bunch of new stuff like weapons, armor and missions across the galaxy. There’s also a new War Assets system.

Finally, from the same team as the Expanded Galaxy Mod, there are the Omega and Ark mods which changes how Omega looks post-liberation and Ark adds new Hazard maps and enemies to the game.

There’s a Spectre Expansion Mod, for those of you who thought ME3’s spectre terminal didn’t offer much (it didn’t). This aims to fix that. It adds new missions, and even has a quest that’s still a WIP.

We probably won’t see anything official, since BioWare is all-hands-on-deck with Anthem, but that doesn’t mean the franchise is dead, hopefully.
