Yep, someone modded Thomas the Tank Engine into Resident Evil 2 Remake

There’s a theory of anthropology that suggests that when a new medium is introduced (cave walls, sculpture, illuminated manuscript) humans’ first instinct is to use it to depict Thomas the Tank Engine. OK, I made that up. But if the earliest cave painters were basically modders, then it follows that Thomas shows up in Resident Evil 2 Remake as Mr. X, following modded appearances elsewhere.

This is the work of ZombieAli (modeling here) building off the sound effects of DJ Pop, who needed less than a month post launch to replace Mr. X’s footfalls and punches with Thomas’ steam whistle and theme. The combo was spied on Twitter yesterday by Pixelbuster (mod links via PC Gamer)

This is what Mr. X sounds like with Thomas’ sounds but without his deranged Heeeeerrrree’s Johnny visage busting through the door. Leon’s “Jesus Christ!” as Thomas’ theme song and chug-chug-chug begins is :chef-kiss:

DJ Pop is also the modder who oh-so-cleverly subbed out Mr. X’s footfalls and punches with “X Gon’ Give It To Ya.” Knock-knock open up the door, it’s real.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled anthropology 201 class, already in progress.
