Super Bowl 2019: 11 new movie & TV trailers dropped during the game

The only thing that kept us hanging on during the glacial gameplay of the Rams and Patriots’ Super Bowl LIII spat was the promise of first look footage from some of our most anticipated movies and shows. A Tom Brady snap is exciting, sure, but a Thanos snap is life or death!

From superhero movies to sci-fi streaming series, the Super Bowl trailer offerings had something for everyone. Here’s what we got:

Avengers: Endgame

A new 30-second spot offers a glimpse of Earth’s mournful survivors. But Marvel may have erased one character too many?

Us

Jordan Peele’s follow up to Get Out stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke … and Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke. Expect the doppelgangers to deliver serious doppelbangers. And speaking of Peele…

The Twilight Zone

Peele’s reboot of the Rod Serling mystery series is arriving to CBS All Access in April. The anthology show’s cast includes John Cho, Allison Tolman, Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Sanaa Lathan, Steven Yeun, Greg Kinnear, Taissa Farmiga, Jessica Williams, and DeWanda Wise, but we don’t get any of them here — instead this spot’s got Peele and a whole lot of mood.

Captain Marvel

We’re only a month away from Captain Marvel’s big-screen debut, and Marvel took the time to emphasize just how much high-flying adventure — in planes, in outer space — we should expect. Our only gripe: needed more Goose.

Hanna

Based on the 2011 film of the same name, Amazon’s new series about a young assassin who breaks out of murder school got a kick-ass first trailer during the big game. And there was a bonus: the premiere episode is live for 24 hours. You have until Monday night!

Toy Story 4

Toy Hell is hanging on the prize wall of a traveling carnival. In Toy Story 4, Buzz Lightyear goes to Toy Hell.

Alita: Battle Angel

Surprise: James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’s manga adaptation is pretty darn good!

Wonder Park

Wonder Park takes a few leaps in the premise department. “Wonder Park” is an imaginary park — but now it’s real? And under attack? There are talking animals because this is a CG-animated movie in the year 2019? This may be a trip.

The Handmaid’s Tale

If you’re a Rams fan and thought the night couldn’t get more depressing, Hulu provided a new look at the third season of its acclaimed dystopian series.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Based on Alvin Schwartz’s book of the same name, this Guillermo del Toro-produced horror movie takes everything that scared the hell out of you when you were a kid and puts it on screen.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

The Fast franchise gets a superhero spinoff in which Idris Elba plays a bulletproof boi. If things must go boom, we suppose this is an acceptable way of doing it.
