Logitech G502 Hero Gaming Mouse Review

Logitech G502 Hero Gaming Mouse Review

Have you ever seen a gaming mouse based on a high-precision sensor, with an integrated ARM processor, a 50 million-click switch resource, a variable weight, more than ten programmable buttons, and even at a low cost? It sounds fantastic, but it’s still real – the Logitech G502 Hero is typical of everything that has just been said. And even more. Not to mention, the firmware update brought even more sensor functionality that was previously unavailable – 25600 DPI. Not weak, right? We have warmed up your interest, so for now, let’s move on to studying the device!

G502 Hero is a wired mouse for right-handed use only. Its key features are the advanced HERO 16K sensor, 11 programmable buttons, the ability to change the weight (in the direction of increase) and customizable RGB backlight. The wheel is made of metal and is characterized by special notches for easy scrolling. True, if the finger sweats a little or, conversely, is very dry, then tenacity is lost due to the smooth surface.

Above the wheel is a mechanical switch of its operation modes – nothing slows it down in one of the modes, thanks to which you can scroll even the longest news feeds with a flick of your finger. Closer to the center of the “back” of the mouse is one of the programmable buttons, which by default cycles through all available profiles.

Its body is made of two types of plastic and rubber pads, not counting the Teflon legs and a metal wheel. The upper part of the case and the main keys are characterized by a matte surface, and the latter are elements independent of the main part of the case. The design contains small glossy inserts.

Customizable backlight is implemented for only one zone – the manufacturer’s logo. To the left is the indicator of the active settings profile, which is highlighted in the same color as the logo.

The Logitech G502 Hero gaming mouse is a versatile solution for many gaming genres, no matter your level of gaming experience. With the exception of a heavy metal wheel, you can only find fault with the accuracy of the sensor, but you are unlikely to spend time in games where you need to guide a point along the narrow corridors of the labyrinth, returning it to its original position, and even in a limited space for manipulating the mouse. There are too many conditions that need to be met to fulfill a really unrealistic scenario.

So what’s the bottom line? The sensor behaves well, the ergonomics are on top, there is a minimum of backlight, and the software is simple, convenient and, of course, functional. Yes, and new functions can bring with the next update. So at this price tag, the Logitech G502 Hero definitely deserves attention, if you don’t have some unique requirements for a manipulator in your mind that are realizable, but the cost of which will already be in the 3-digit number.

Pros:
— high accuracy of the sensor;
— 11 programmable buttons;
– the ability to store up to 5 profiles in the memory of the manipulator;
– variable weight;
– excellent ergonomics for hands of almost any size;
– minimum RGB backlight;
— convenient unified software;
– low cost;

Cons:
— [subjectively] the wheel in certain situations can slide under the finger;
– [not critical] the accuracy along the X axis may “leave” a little.

Conclusion

Logitech offers us an advanced Hero 16K sensor with an ARM processor and built-in memory that allows you to adjust the weight of the mouse, program more than a dozen buttons using one convenient software for a fairly loyal price tag. An impressive list of benefits, isn’t it? All this combines the G502 Hero mouse, the functionality of which is expanded over time with the help of new firmware and updates to the proprietary G HUB program. It wasn’t completely without sin, but the first of them is subjective (the tenacity of the wheel), and the second cannot be called critical, since the accuracy of the sensor is still on top (and it also happens that the return goes to a different point altogether 10 cm from the beginning). So the Logitech G502 Hero works out its 4000 rubles (at the time of publication of the material) in full, including excellent ergonomics, regardless of hand size and grip.
