Card-Based Dungeon Crawler ‘Knights of the Card Table’ Updated with Daily Challenge Mode Called “Expansion Island” – TouchArcade

Back in February a really clever card-based dungeon crawler called Knights of the Card Table ($3.99) launched on iOS and Android. It offered simplified strategy as your character would face off against a number of enemies who would appear in a line of cards before him, and the main hook of the game was to rearrange the cards and provide the best order of operation for the various tasks available. For instance, you might have an enemy in the very next card in the lineup whose attack strength is more than your available hit points, so you can simply drag a potion card from somewhere else in the card lineup and place it in front of the enemy so you can chug it and recover some HP before battling the foe. Again, it was really streamlined which fit well on mobile but still satisfyingly strategic, and you can check out what Knights of the Card Table is like in the following launch trailer.

Anyway, while we enjoyed the game on its release, we haven’t really heard too much from it in the months since. There have been updates but they’ve all revolved around bug fixes and the like, with no actual new content coming. However, that changed this week when developer Ponywolf released a new content update dubbed Expansion Island for both the iOS and Android versions of the game. This expansion basically adds a daily challenge mode to the game where each day you can try your hand at a new dungeon that has its own set of unique rules and lets you experiment with a variety of interesting equipment load outs. The expansion promises over 30 new levels, daily rewards, new weapons and heroes, and “A proper final end crawl.” They’ve also polished up the game’s main campaign based on player feedback. Knights of the Card Table is a ton of fun and is available as a free to play game on Android, and as a fully premium $3.99 game on iOS with the new Expansion Island content available for free.
