Capy Games’ Below comes to Xbox One and PC on Dec. 14

Capy Games’ “roguelike-like” dungeon crawler Below will be released next week, on Dec. 14, more than five years after the game was announced. Below will be available for Windows PC via Steam and Xbox One.

Below’s launch trailer, above, shows what players can expect when they embark on their dark, moody adventure. Players will explore a mysterious, underground world where death awaits around every corner.

Here’s the latest official description of the game:

Test your adventurer mettle against The Isle’s procedural subterranean labyrinths. Explore a large, interconnected underworld crawling with cunning creatures, deadly traps, and a mysterious shadowy presence. Survive the perils of The Depths and unearth what lies below… or die trying. Below embraces exploration and discovery – illuminate the path ahead, find hidden passages and unravel the deepest mysteries hidden in the darkness your own way.

Capy originally unveiled Below more than five years ago, during the Microsoft’s E3 2013 press briefing. At the time, Capy said the game was in development exclusively on Xbox One. The studio later confirmed that it was a timed exclusive on consoles — like the company’s prior game, Super Time Force — and eventually announced a Windows PC version. The game was delayed multiple times, and Capy said in 2016 it was delaying the game indefinitely. The developer later committed to a 2018 release window.
