Birdo Comes To Mario Tennis Aces Next Week

Fans of Birdo, rejoice! With Mario Tennis Aces having been such a smashing success so far, Nintendo has seen fit to offer a reason of free DLC, as you already know. Coming up next in the calendar of characters is Birdo, but there’s a small catch in how you unlock her.

Everyone playing Mario Tennis Aces downloads Birdo starting October 1, but not everyone can use her immediately. All you have to do to unlock her is to enter into an online tournament between October 1 and November 1 and she will be available to play. This works identically do how it did with Diddy before.

The problem is that this is the first month where access to online tournaments requires subscription to Nintendo Switch’s paid online. So if you aren’t a paid member, or you used up your free trial already, there’s no real options other than paying for the subscription or waiting until November when Birdo unlocks for everyone. So consider it unlocking early if you have a subscription.
