3 Games You Should Play in 2022

There are plenty of games that are up and coming for the year 2022 for the PCs and consoles alike. Triple-A titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Last of Us 2 have all been teased to avid fans for quite some time, exciting them up and leaving them wanting for more. That said, even indie games are getting some love, such as Spiritfarer and Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

As you can tell, there are plenty of games to play this year. Meanwhile, here are some games that are released already for your entertainment:

1. Half-Life: Alyx

Finally, after so many years, a new Half-Life game has come out. You’d think they use the number 3, but alas, just Valve things. It is good to note, though, that Half-Life: Alyx is set before Half-Life 2.

Back to the game, Half-Life: Alyx puts you in the shoes of Alyx Vance, who, as you might have guessed, has the fate of the world in her hands. Your job is to fight back the Combine, an alien race, to save humanity. 

What makes this game genuinely different from any other of the Half-Life series is that you get to play in virtual reality (VR). In other words, you can interact with pretty much everything. Imagine grabbing a chair and using it as a weapon to knock back your enemies.

2. Doom Eternal

Amidst the games that have been quite laid-back, trying to play it safe and please the crowds, Doom Eternal rises from the ashes. Its mix of shoot-everything-up type of gameplay, filled with gore and horror, is quite addicting, and really a breath of fresh air the gaming industry needed.

While there is a plot to the game, all you really need to know is how to point-and-click, and you’re good to go! Watch as the horrors of hell attempt to fight you off, only to find its guts sprayed all over the walls and its head 20 meters away from its body, with music rocking in your background to keep your heart pumping and your guns shooting.

3. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

While the original game has been out quite a while, many have been thirsting for an adorably cute sequel to pop out, and their wishes have been granted. Coming out the same day as Doom Eternal, you’d think the two games would get along well. Fortunately, the internet community has done that job for us.

If you’ve never heard of animal crossing, it is an incredibly cute social simulator. Now, Animal Crossing: New Horizons leaves those without the Nintendo switch wishing they had one.

While we’ve only talked about the three games so far, there are plenty more to come out this year and in the near future.
